Not even the Queen of England has unalloyed queenly days. Yes, others can do some things for him, but you will find that even if you wished it, you could not renounce being queen of his world. Just because you don’t recognize it doesn’t mean it isn’t there. Not to be maudlin, but wounded young men don’t call for friends or Daddy–and only rarely for lovers. They almost invariably call for Mother.

You go right ahead and be a Mommy Blogger–I know far too many women who crowd up their blogs w/ complaints about the things their kids do. You are like a breath of fresh air, and you keep me convinced that I actually want to do this crazy thing.

Also, that roots and wings saying? It’s not that it’s cheesy, it’s that it’s not parallel. Give them secure roots and they’ll grow strong branches, that makes sense. But roots *and* wings? What is he, a bird of paradise plant?

Good post…I think you do a great job at balancing being a person and being a mom, better than most parents I know.

I will admit that when you told me you were having a baby, I was afraid I would lose a part of my friend who I have known for so long (I was afraid of the same thing when you got married). That has not happened. You are still interesting and the same Misty and now you have a cute kid!
