I tried instituting a book ban after we got married because we really had no space for them, and I really dislike putting books on the floor. I don’t think the ban itself did any good, though, since we have almost a full shelf’s worth of books in boxes and on the floor. Maybe I should just give in and let the books flow.

So that’s three from us, three from Stephen’s parents, three from my mom and three from my dad. That’s 12 right there and that doesn’t count presents from friends and aunts and uncles. Seems like way more than enough for an almost three year old.

There is a caveat to that rule. Books don’t count. I know that’s a lousy caveat but Stephen and I personally have very little restraint when it comes to books so I can’t really expect that from my kid either.

Is that three gifts per grandparent, per set of grandparents, or only three gifts for Eli at all?

We even got to do the lighting this past Sunday, read the day’s scripture and pray. When we finished Eli said, “That was fun, Dad. Let’s do it again!”

Now I feel like I missed something big.

By the way, I’ve been reading your blog almost daily and I love it I found it when I was looking up information on Jericho and found the post about nuclear stuff. I kept reading and have been a loyal reader ever since.

Geof will say that I’m secretly Methodist. I’m not sure that he’s too far wrong in that assumption.
