Morgan and Grace are gearing up on the activities too. Morgan started a new one for us this week: Irish dancing! She is fired up about it. They each have two activities, and we’ve had to draw the line there. The time and money just run out too quickly otherwise.

I feel your pain. I’ve got a list a mile long of crafty things I’ve been wanting to work on, but I’ve been out of town for several months now. I’ve got a couple that I’d like to get done before I fly to Huntsvegas, but we’ll see how my first weekend at home without being on call 24/7 goes. Hopefully, when I get back, I can finally start work on the quilt for Sean’s and my bed. I’ve only been trying to start that for about 5 months now. Work travel is driving me nuts.

August for some reason always gets me started on my own crafty projects for the year (why can’t I do crafts from March to August? Too warm? Hmm). I am doing a cross-stitch project, working on two quilts (reminds me that I need to drop Amy a line), crocheting a blanket and a cape, need to work on three scrapbooks, overhaul my Web sites, and we still have to rearrange furniture for the baby. But I love it. All this will occupy me till December or so. Unless I tack on more to extend the crafting to March. Then I am done for the year. On top of that, I am starting a book project. And looking for some freelance work to keep me company. And then there’s the job that I try not to think about too much.
I have a hard time grappling with the idea of kids in school *already* – school is for September.

I’m obsessing pretty hard over quilt #2. #1 went together so fast it was a blur, but this one is requiring a lot of thought on the color placement. I don’t get to fudge it now and figure it out later; those colors have to be dead-on right before I ever take my cutter to the fabric or I end up with a subpar finished result.

I suspect I will calm down once I’ve got a final running order on the colors. Then it will just be about being patient, cutting straight, and piecing carefully. That part I like. It requires single-minded concentration, which is great for stopping thoughts about work or sick spouses or … whatever’s looking to latch on that night.

Plus the end result is warm and snuggly. BONUS.

Yeah, crazy for sure right now. Maybe not quite as busy as you guys. I do feel as if there are not enough hours to sleep in the day. Thank goodness it is the weekend where hopefully I’ll be able to catch a nap or two and sleep in!
