If Anyone Has an Extra Hammer, I’ve Some Thumbs in Need of Smashing

Nights like this are necessary to remind me that, yes, I really do suck at working with hardware.

This is where you should insert a picture of me staring balefully at a Fonera 2100 that is happily bricked despite, or more truthfully because of, my best efforts.

On the plus side, this version 1.0 XBox looks absolutely smashing running various bits of software, if only it could talk to the outside world.

What are you up to with your xbox?

I’m turning it into a general media player. I’ve put XBox Media Center on it and a handful of emulators like MAME. Now I’m trying to network it wirelessly, with no success so far.

My controller and RCA cable helping at all?

Yeah, absolutely. It turned out that I was having two problems: until I got the new dashboard software installed, the XBox would only output video to a single RCA jack instead of composite video, and it would only recognize MS controllers.
