Ripping to FLAC [well, ALAC] is why I bought my Drobo and 4TB of HDDs to go into it. Mmmm … storage.

I wish I’d had more hard drive space when I started this project, because I would have started with ripping to FLAC. Oh, well. At this point I can but hope that, if I ever have to transcode again, I’ll have a better option than digging out all of our old CDs.

Pah, what a waste. See, I rip all my albums to FLAC, and then transcode that to Ogg Vorbis. That way, I’ll never need to touch the physical CDs again when I decide to switch to an even more obscure music format!
