People rightly pointed out that Sanders was being a racist dick, and he responded with grace and class: when Yoon Ha Lee asked him to remove her story from the <i>Helix<\/i> archives, he did so, telling Yoon that <a href=\"http:\/\/yhlee.livejournal.com\/1184976.html\">her story didn&#8217;t make sense anyway, he&#8217;d only bought it to fill some quota in his head<\/a>, and the story&#8217;s grapes were probably sour anyway. (<a href=\"http:\/\/yhlee.livejournal.com\/1187003.html\">Here&#8217;s the full text of his response<\/a>)  He also pulled other authors&#8217; stories at their request, <a href=\"http:\/\/nihilistic-kid.livejournal.com\/1144938.html\">replacing them with a page that said &#8220;STORY DELETED AT AUTHOR&#8217;S PANTIWADULOUS REQUEST&#8221;<\/a>. Oh, and then he explained that further story removals would <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tobiasbuckell.com\/2008\/07\/15\/pay-to-um-not-play\/\">cost the author $40<\/a>, before finally <a href=\"http:\/\/webnews.sff.net\/read?cmd=read&#038;artid=%3C487ea44b.0@news.sff.net%3E\">fully rescinding that offer<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Fortunately, sometimes good things come out of bad events. A group of writers published by <i>Helix<\/i> created <a href=\"http:\/\/transcriptase.org\/\"><i>Transcriptase<\/i><\/a>, which now hosts those stories pulled from <i>Helix<\/i>.
