Thaumatropes are Victorian spinner toys. In this case they are also Eli&#8217;s birthday party invitations. I got the idea from my new favorite author Ester K. Smith. The thaumatropes are from a book called <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Magic-Books-Paper-Toys-Playthings\/dp\/0307407098\/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&#038;s=books&#038;qid=1232648262&#038;sr=8-1\">Magic Books &#038; Paper Toys<\/a>. You hold the strings, twist and see the robot open and close his eyes and mouth. Eli is obsessed with them. Eli can&#8217;t decide which robot he wants to keep for himself. I have this sneaking suspicion that I&#8217;m going to be making four or five more buttons for him to keep for his very own.<\/p>\n<p>I have gotten a ton of crafting tools (the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.badgeaminit.com\/starterkit.html\">button maker<\/a>! and a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.binditall.com\/2008NewNowAvailable.html\">Bind-it-all<\/a>!) and books at Christmas and since then.
