After this year, though, I&#8217;m taking off my old-man grumpy pants and putting on something newer and hipper. Parachute pants, perhaps. There were a number of funny and inspired jokes yesterday. Among my favorites:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bugmenot.com\/\">BugMeNot<\/a> claiming to require registration to use.<\/li>\n<li>Wizards of the Coast and Penny Arcade creating an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wizards.com\/default.asp?x=dnd\/drfe\/20090401\">actual player class out of the Witchalock<\/a>, the totally sweet hermaphroditic androgynite blend of witches and warlocks.<\/li>\n<li>Tor.com becoming <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tor.com\/index.php?option=com_content&#038;view=blog&#038;id=20162\">T&Ouml;Rd&ouml;tC&Ouml;M<\/a>, the premiere site for S&auml;&iuml;Ph&auml;&iuml;\/Ph&auml;ntysee.<\/li>\n<li>ThinkGeek&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thinkgeek.com\/stuff\/41\/squeez-bacon.html\">Squeeze Bacon<\/a>, a product that really should exist.<\/li>\n<li>Chris Sims turning the Invincible Super-Blog into a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.the-isb.com\/?p=1326\">Tarot fan-site and then writing an actual review of the latest Tarot issue<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Improv Everywhere&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/improveverywhere.com\/2009\/04\/01\/best-funeral-ever\/\">Best Funeral Ever<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Qualcomm&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.qualcomm.com\/innovation\/convergence.html\">wireless conversion<\/a> involving wolfpigeons (and the accompanying video, which sells the whole thing).<\/li>\n<li>Google&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/googleblog.blogspot.com\/2009\/04\/cadie-awakens.html\">CADIE<\/a>, their accidental answer to Skynet.<\/li>\n<li>Best of all, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.guardian.co.uk\/media\/2009\/apr\/01\/guardian-twitter-media-technology\">The Guardian switching entirely to Twitter<\/a>, which has the rare distinction of actually getting funnier as it goes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Sure, there were the normal dead-horse &#8220;we&#8217;re shutting the site down!&#8221; posts, but I saw fewer than in years past.
