{"id":342,"date":"2006-06-21T15:51:05","date_gmt":"2006-06-21T20:51:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/granades.com\/2006\/06\/21\/day-at-the-botanical-gardens\/"},"modified":"2006-06-22T08:58:43","modified_gmt":"2006-06-22T13:58:43","slug":"day-at-the-botanical-gardens","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/granades.com\/?p=342","title":{"rendered":"Day at the Botanical Gardens"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"image334\" src=\"https:\/\/granades.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/06\/IMG_6571.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_6571.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hsvbg.org\/index.htm\">Huntsville Botanical Garden<\/a> just opened its new Nature Center &#038; Children\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Garden and it is fabulous. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"image340\" src=\"https:\/\/granades.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/06\/IMG_6589.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_6589.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The last butterfly house I visited was when we lived in Durham and hung out at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncmls.org\/index.asp\">Museum of Life and Science.<\/a> The new one here is better!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"image339\" src=\"https:\/\/granades.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/06\/IMG_6587.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_6587.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We went with Eli&#8217;s playgroup buds: Will, and his mom Chrissy, and Mackenzie, and her mom Kelly.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"image336\" src=\"https:\/\/granades.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/06\/IMG_6575.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_6575.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Eli thought the amazing rock waterfalls were pretty cool.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"image333\" src=\"https:\/\/granades.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/06\/IMG_6562.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_6562.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"image337\" src=\"https:\/\/granades.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/06\/IMG_6577.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_6577.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"image338\" src=\"https:\/\/granades.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/06\/IMG_6583.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_6583.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"image335\" src=\"https:\/\/granades.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/06\/IMG_6573.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_6573.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We had lunch in the garden and then had a snow cone. We also stopped off at the storybook garden.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"image341\" src=\"https:\/\/granades.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/06\/IMG_6592.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_6592.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Tips for your trip to the garden:<br \/>\n1. Take a towel.<br \/>\n2. Take about twice as much water as you think you need.<br \/>\n3. Take spray-on sunscreen.<br \/>\n4. Take a wagon for your kid and your gear to ride in. (Last year they had free wagons for you to use while in the garden but we couldn&#8217;t find them this year. Thank goodness Kelly brought hers along!)<\/p>\n<p>We went to the garden last year around this time and it wasn&#8217;t nearly as nice as what we experienced today but it was just as hot. Current temprature: 97\u00c2\u00b0, feels like: 102\u00c2\u00b0. Maybe next time we can pick a day to go when it&#8217;s only 90\u00c2\u00b0 outside.<\/p>\n<p>For the first time in about 10 years I actually have a tan.
