It's true that I turned out okay after the typewriter stunt.

...well, perhaps "okay" is overstating things. :)

As you think of this, remember that your father took you to his office when you were little; allowed you to climb up and pound on his manual typewriter; watched you tump over onto the machine headfirst (it appeared in slo-mo); then snatched you up (fumbling for a handkerchief for your bleeding head and his keys to the office simultaneously); carried you at a run down the stairs while putting away his office keys, getting out his truck keys, keeping the pressure on your head with the increasingly blood-soaked handkerchief, lying to you that everything would be perfectly fine, and thinking all the time about what story might mollify your mother. He drove to the hospital along city streets more slowly than you did through LR by steering and shifting gears while clutching the vehicle (at appropriate times) and you (constantly). You've a small scar that bears testimony to that evening, but you're still here. God does indeed watch over fools and children!

Oh, wow. What a, uh, "exciting" time. I'm glad it was a virus, and I think you were well within your right to panic.

By the way, "I am the kind of parent who, the third time the copperhead snake struck Eli," that is me as well!
