Robert Palmer girls. Aerosmith. 80s rappers. This video name-checks (and, er, sight-checks) so many elements of pop music from my youth, it’s crazy. Unfortunately, like Alien Ant Farm’s video for their cover of Smooth Criminal, if you don’t get the references, there’s not much else to the video.

Finally catching up on this one.
I LOVE “1985″ for some of the same reasons I love “Stacy’s Mom”. As Stephen says, the references abound, and they’re all hilarious (though the drummer as a Robert Palmer clone woman… that’s just not right).
As for Tawny Kitaen rolling around on car hoods… I never saw this video during the decade in which is was born. By the time I did see it, it already pretty much looked like a caricature of itself. I do love that song, though my favorite is the _other_ version.
