Friday Night Videos: Striking Images That Have Little Connection to the Song

Jason Forrest: War Photographer (2005)

Viking sound engineers! Guitar-wielding demon things! Renegade licks from 1970s-era Chicago! Giant robots! GIANT ROBOTS!

The Knife: We Share Our Mothers’ Health (2006)

Words fail. This video is disturbing in ways I cannot explain. Iron-cross birds flying over marching headless children. Weird flowers blooming. I dunno. It’s hypnotic in a freakish way.

    War Photographer Video:
Wow. That was actually pretty cool. I don’t think it really qualifies for the title of the post, though. I think the video expressed the music pretty well, both on a literal level and on a “let’s build some random crap out of these pieces that everyone recognizes” level. :)

    We Share Our Mother’s Heath:
Disturbing is the right word. There was one part that made me literally cringe in sympathetic pain… sympathy for who? I have no clue.

More pluses in the first video’s favor:
    It has a marching band!
The first part reminds me of setting up Regency at ‘con. :)

That first video really made me want Viking TechOps badges for con this year.

Oh yeah, and was the animator for the first video the same guy who did Samurai Jack? Just curious.

That was actually Joel Trussell who did the War Photographer video, and not Genndy Tartakovsky.
