Dan & I just ran through this list verbally and combined we’ve read 70% of it. Cool! My “reading the classics” project helped knock a lot of them off, as did Dan’s bizarre fondness for Russian novels of interminable length.

It’s a good list — I’d be happy to read all of it except for the Rand trash.

Yeah, I enjoyed the book, but it was slow going at first. I even read the footnotes!

Heh, “Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell” is not too bad so long as you skip all of the footnotes — they easily double the size of the book. We have several of the books on the list; many I have read, the rest I have plans to read when I get a chance.

jonathan strange and mr norrell – no kidding about not being able to finish it. It was described to me as ‘Harry Potter for adults’. What I didn’t realize is ‘for adults’ is used in the same sense that cspan is ‘for adults’.
