Second Day of Continuous Rain

And you know what that means? My very best secret weapon for being trapped in the house:

Fort!

Eli shows Liza how to play inside the fort.

Liza’s verdict: Fort is awesome!

    Aww, yeah, the fort.

We have a cardboard box fort we made for Z. One biggish box for the Fort, and then a “tower” on top with a window he can stick his head into.

This weekend he turned the fort on its side. Now it’s a tiny front room he can crawl through to reach the big room in the back, that he can look out of.

    Forts are great!

I know what I’m doing the next rainy Saturday–fort-building! Yay!

The current fort is a bigger success than the initial one – it was just a long turret fort. This one actually allows him to do stuff like play Peek-a-boo!

Forts are great. So are tents. And it’s 2 1/2 days at my house. I count that the rain started Monday evening. :( ;)

katre and duchess: we haven’t bought anything with a big box lately so no box forts for us and Eli is now too big for the diaper box fort, sadly.

LB: throw a blanket over your dining room table and lounge under there and read. Just as good as a cocoon.

Laura: Welcome! We’ve only had two days out here sorry you’ve had longer!

Or 2 laundry baskets put up in an upside down v. Or just a laundry basket for that matter.

We didn’t just have forts, my brothers often built spider webs around the fort so we were trapped… fun to make – not so fun to take down so they stayed up for days…

Mom and I approve. Especially the ridiculously cute photo of Lizabug.

It may be raining in your neck of the woods, but that’s making for big smiles out here in B’more. Hmmmm… that table idea doesn’t sound half bad!

The pics are adorable… can’t wipe the grin off my face! Forts were also one of my favorites growing up… especially outside in the spring, with sheets flung over the card table, or even better, over the top and sides of our “umbrella” style laundry line (we played knights, then).

Great pics! Growing up, we used to use the seat cushions from our sofa as the walls of the forts. It actually worked out really well.
