I cried. Maybe I’m just a sucker–I know the science wasn’t very good. I know everything was crammed in there. I think it would have been better if there had been more time. I don’t know if I’d recommend it, but I didn’t think it was awful. It allowed me to have closure and move on….

And yes, Joss has helped change TV forever, so he doesn’t have to apologize to me for …. ok, this is a family show….

Yay, this pretty much precisely summed up my feelings. That and this: “I felt like I was watching the series finale to a series I never saw.” I didn’t have hope for much more after the previous episode was pretty WTF-midichlorians!?-*wtf*, but still. I mostly enjoyed the ride, but hope it’s a more coherent one next series ’round. And I’d still trade the whole two seasons for another episode or two of Firefly.

Most egregious: If ever I’m in a post-apocalyptic situation inside a house with a lot of friends and a lot of guns, then a big armored 18-wheeler of rolling death full of Raiders from Fallout 3 pulls up in my driveway, I’m going to make sure /everyone hurries outside to see what’s going on/.

It completely seemed as if the writers decided, “Hey, we have ending points for several seasons, so let’s just throw them in and see where we end up.” I felt like I was watching the series finale to a series I never saw. Last episode, Paul loved Millie, but now he loves Echo so whoops, we feel the pain when he dies and Echo is stricken? I told Joy afterwards that we just needed the closing beat to be George Harrison’s “Got My Mind Set on You” to complete the ending creepiness.

I was sort of (pretty darn) impressed by “Epitaph 2″ purely as a piece of screenwriting. Whedon crammed about four episodes’ worth of plot into one episode, and it didn’t feel like more than two!

…And as a series of un-paid-for narrative denouments, well, it’s emblematic of the entire show.
