What Pi Sounds Like

Happy Pi Day! I can think of no better way to celebrate 3.14 than Michael John Blake’s fun musical composition that takes the digits of pi (3.1415926535…) and turns them into something akin to a Schoenbergian twelve-tone row that never fully repeats.

  1. I love this. Thanks for sharing it. I too was thinking about your brother while listening to it. He could so do this.

  2. Oh, bummer, the video is down already. Ah, well, happy Pi day, anyway!

Been keeping the folks in Japan in prayer and helping toward the relief efforts. My heart aches.

And I loved the crafty kids… especially the angelic Liza shot!

  3. Argh! I miss out on my blog reader for one day and I miss the video! Find another because I’m teaching Schoenberg this week (though it almost sounds more Stockhausian to me from your description…)

  4. That’s for posting is, Elizabeth! Great fun – but with all the canons going on it sounds really Baroque – I can see Bach getting into this idea.
